Getting Started

Install, activate, scan, and use snapshots/safe push in your first job workflow.

System Requirements

Installation

  1. Download the installer — After purchasing, you'll receive a download link for NetMapProSetup.exe.
  2. Run the installer — Double-click the setup file and follow the on-screen prompts. The default install location is C:\Program Files\NetMap Pro.
  3. Launch NetMap Pro — Open it from the Start Menu or desktop shortcut. Your default browser will open automatically to the NetMap Pro interface.
Windows Defender SmartScreen: On first launch, Windows may show a "Windows protected your PC" warning. Click More info then Run anyway. This is normal for new applications.

License Activation

  1. Find your license key — Check your email for the license key delivered after purchase. It looks like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.
  2. Enter the key — On first launch, you'll see the activation screen. Paste your license key and click Activate.
  3. You're in — The app validates your key online and unlocks all features. Each license works on up to 2 computers.
Tip: If you need to move your license to a new computer, open Settings (gear icon in the sidebar), click Deactivate License, then install NetMap Pro on the new machine and activate with the same key.
No admin required. NetMap Pro does not need to run as Administrator. The installer handles all necessary permissions during setup.

Creating Your First Project

  1. Click "New Project" in the sidebar. Give it a name that matches the job site (e.g., "Smith Residence" or "Office Retrofit").
  2. Set the subnet — NetMap Pro auto-detects your current subnet (e.g., 192.168.1.0/24). If the job site uses a different subnet or VLAN, change it here. NetMap Pro scans one subnet at a time — for multi-VLAN sites, scan each subnet separately into the same project or create separate projects per subnet.
  3. Hit Scan — Click the Scan Network button. NetMap Pro runs all 5 discovery phases and populates the device table. See the Network Scanning guide for details on what each phase does.

What's Next

Once your scan is complete, you can:

Default IP Ranges by Device Type

When you set a device type, NetMap Pro auto-suggests an IP from the corresponding range. This keeps your IP scheme organized across every project. Bookmark this table — you'll reference it often.

Device Type IP Range
Network (routers, switches, APs).2 – .9
Speaker / Audio.30 – .49
Processor / Controller.50 – .69
Display / TV.70 – .89
Camera / Security.100 – .129
Lighting.130 – .149
HVAC / Climate.150 – .169

Next Step

Now that your project is set up and your first scan is complete, head to Network Scanning to understand each phase, then use safe router push and finish with closeout exports.
